Grounded
By Angie Durbin
The energetic movements within "Grounded" revealed a series of fascinating, whimsical creatures floating in and around the composition with grounding horizontal ‘feet’ brushstrokes that keep everything together.
I like to think of the marks in my paintings as having a conversation with each other. Whether it’s little dots, big brush marks, or quirky little creatures that accidentally appear.
To me, this arrangement mirrors the many ambitions, emotions, daily tasks, aspirations, and all the moving parts we navigate in our daily lives, which we must constantly anchor within our core values.
It reminds me of the Teddy Roosevelt quote, "Keep your eyes on the stars, and your feet on the ground."
