Room view: Framed abstract watercolor artwork with fragmented black lines and washes of pink and teal colors hangs above a shelf with a seated gray squirrel, a bowl of peanuts, and candles, creating a calm modern interior. ’Fragments’ by Angie Durbin.

Fragments

By Angie Durbin

Painted in New York City at Tompkins Square Park on a relaxing fall Sunday. A very cute squirrel kept jumping on the bench and looking at me for food but alas, I had none.

When I got up to leave, I noticed a bunch of peanut shell fragments scattered around by my feet. Apparently, the squirrel had trained other bench sitters to bring him peanuts but forgot to send me the memo. Next time I’ll be prepared!

What I see among the fragmented lines and colors is a little abstract face right in the middle that resembles the squirrel’s expectation of peanuts. 🐿️ What do you see?
